SwimMAC has a new website devoted to the Olympic Trials!
You can see it here http://swimmac-olympictrials.org
This new website is also a “sneak peek” at what the new SwimMAC Carolina website will look like as it is unveiled later this summer! During the Olympic Trials, this site will feature daily updates from the coaches, photographs of our participating athletes, real time results, videos and various interesting swim links. Members will also be able to leave comments or words of encouragement and congratulations for our athletes on any of the articles by selecting the comment button at the bottom of each item. Let’s show our swimmers how much we support their Olympic Dream!!!

Jared White Makes Olympic Trials Cut in the 100 Backstroke |

On Saturday morning, during the prelim session of the New Wave Capital City Classic, Jared White qualified for the Olympic Trials in the 100 backstroke with a time of 57.61. Jared had missed it by .03 at the UltraSwim so this was the last meet for an opportunity to qualify. It was an exciting race from start to finish as the MAC swimmers where lined up along the side of the pool helping Jared along with MAC noise.
Great job Jared, we're proud of you!! |
UltraSwim: BIG Success, BIG Meet |

This year’s Charlotte UltraSwim was a BIG success, and a BIG meet, with an incredible number of fast swims, trial cuts and meet records. Congratulations to all the MAC swimmers that got new trial cuts and thanks to all the MAC swimmers that raced so hard.
We had a great Meet Management team running this year’s event, one of the best we have ever had. Thanks to every one of them, from our Rainbow Sandals Pole Setting Meet Directors, a hard working Clerk of Course team, our Awards and Housing ladies, the Timing System group and a new meet record Hospitality team. We were also fortunate to have Richard Pockat, our Meet Referee, heading up a super team of meet officials. Thanks to the MAC Coaching staff for all their hard work behind the scenes. We also had an Announcing/ Audio team that did a top notch job of calling races and playing music with crystal clarity!
This year’s meet had some very long sessions, rolling straight from prelims into finals followed by time trials after finals. There were many MAC parents and kids that worked 2 and 3 sessions, some in a row, and many that were there for every session from 6 AM until we locked the pool gate. We also had MAC Masters swimmers and parents from other teams that stepped up and worked to make Ultraswim a success.
There is no way to really thank all those MAC volunteers other than to say:
Swim Meets are all about the kids getting the best competitive event we can put together! Thank You! to every parent and volunteer that went above and beyond to make this happen for the 14 competitive events MAC hosted this past year. |

North Carolina Swimming
News items for members of North Carolina Swimming.
- NCS Spring House of Delegates Meeting
- North Carolina Swimming will hold the Spring House of Delegates Meeting at the offices of the YMCA of the Triangle. Although the location has been moved due to the High Point Furniture Market, the dates will remain the April 12-13 weekend. The planned weekend agenda will begin at 2pm on Saturday with committee meetings for Technical Planning (including meet scheduling), Officials, Division Chairmen, Athletes and Task Forces. The NCS Board will meet on Sunday morning with the House of Delegates scheduled to begin at 1:00pm. We would again request that each club bring an athlete with them to the weekend meeting as the Athlete Representatives are planning a workshop for 1-3 athletes per club. More on this will follow.
Also, please note that there will be a meeting to elect coaches to the NCS Zone Team staff at the 14&Under Championships on Saturday, February 23rd in Raleigh. The 2008 Zone Championships will be held in Atlanta, Georgia at the Georgia Tech Olympic pool in early August. The meeting start time and location will be announced throughout the meet. Zone coaches must also be available to work the NCS Select Camp which will occur May 3-4, 2008 in uptown Charlotte at the Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center. Swimmers who place in the top-5 at the 14&U Championships next week in Raleigh will receive an invitation to attend the 2008 Select Camp.
The NCS Awards Banquet will take place following the Select Camp on Sunday, May 4th at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in uptown Charlotte. More information on the Awards Banquet will be available soon as well.
NC Swimming is still looking for volunteers who can assist us with Camps, the Awards Banquet and Marketing. Please e-mail General Chairman, Jonathan Watson by e-mail if any of these committees interest you.
- Impact Athletic Photographers
- As you probably noticed, Impact Athletic Media photographers were on hand for the North Carolina Short Course Senior State Championship (February 14th – 18th), photographing swimmers on Friday & Saturday. More than 1,000 photos of the swimmers competing in the lanes as well as Medal Stand Awards are now available for viewing & purchase from the NC SC Senior State Championship.
